Some of the most critical services we provide for any client is getting a detailed and deep understanding of the market and the ‘why’. Why do you want to develop that project at that location at this point in time? It can never be a matter of “I’ve got this piece of land or I just want to do this”. There has to be a real reason as to why a development is required. We like to try and assist people and bring what they have to fruition, but we certainly don’t go down a path of doing a project for the sake of it.
We’ve seen too many times over our careers a situation where people look to do a development project for the sake of doing it. They think because that’s what they want to do then the market is going to accept it – we’ve seen that come undone many times. Sometimes it does take some tough conversations with some of our clients to tell them that there’s going to be a bit of pain if you persist down this path, but certainly it’s not about running off and doing what you want to do because it will end poorly.
