So you’re about to list your home for sale, which means that strangers will be walking through it and looking at (judging) every detail of the property. Naturally, wanting your home to look as good as possible for those potential buyers, you decide to clean the whole house.
You don’t always have the time to clean out the ENTIRE house, so here are some super quick and easy ways to tidy up your house when you’re in a hurry!
Put more than one bin bag in your bin.
You’ll wish you thought of this trick years ago. Line your bin with 5 or 6 bags instead of one so that when you have to take one out, there’s a new one already there. Doesn’t that sound much less annoying than going to the bottom drawer to get a new one every time the bin is full?!
Put more in the dishwasher than just dishes
You would be surprised at the number of household items that are safe to put in the dishwasher. Use your dishwasher to clean kitchen sponges, light fixture covers, soap dishes, chopping boards, scrubbing brushes, water bottles, and more.
We wouldn’t recommend doing this all the time, but it’s a good trick for a quick fix.
Utilise your storage room
In case of emergencies, it can be really handy to have a room or an area where you can pile things to get them out of the way. This is more of a temporary solution because you don’t want to be piling up junk all the time only to have it fall on top of you when you next open the door under the stairs, much like a 90s cartoon.
This can be handy for an open home though, especially if you don’t have a lot of notice. Put away any personal items in a lockable closet or drawer.
Find a way to entertain or distract yourself
Cleaning isn’t typically a fun exercise for most of us. To make it a bit more enjoyable, play some music or listen to a podcast. That way, you’ll at least be entertained while you’re cleaning.
Use cleaning wipes
In case of emergencies, have some cleaning wipes handy. They are a fast way to clean up spills when you are time poor.
Use a hot shower to iron your shirts
This one is multi-tasking at its best. The steam created from your hot shower can help naturally iron our creases from your clothes. So next time you jump in the shower, hang up some of those clothes you know have been sitting in the ironing pile for weeks.
Get a hand vacuum cleaner
Let’s be honest, no one really enjoys vacuuming. A hand-held vacuum cleaner will come in handy when you’ve got small clean ups but can’t be bothered hauling the big vacuum around the house all morning.
